This Privacy Policy explains how Jajeer Talkies, publisher of Jajeer Times ("we", "us" or "our"), collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you use jajeertimes.com and related services (the "Services"). We process personal data in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act"), the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under them.

1. Data we collect

Information you give us

  • Newsletter sign-ups: your email address.
  • Contact and tip forms: your name, email address, the topic and the contents of your message, and any attachments you choose to send.
  • Advertising enquiries: your name, business name, email address, phone number and campaign details.
  • Grievances: the details you provide so that we can investigate and respond.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, time spent and approximate location derived from IP address.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: as described in our Cookie Policy. Non-essential cookies are used only with your consent.
  • Advertising interactions: whether an advertisement was displayed or clicked, recorded in aggregate to report on campaigns.

3. Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Service providers who process data on our behalf, such as website hosting, email delivery, analytics and form handling providers, under contracts that require them to protect it;
  • Advertising partners, where you have consented to advertising cookies;
  • Authorities, where required by law, court order or a lawful request from a government agency;
  • A successor entity, if Jajeer Times or Jajeer Talkies is reorganised, merged or sold, subject to this Policy.

Some of our service providers may store or process data outside India. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the data remains protected and that the transfer is permitted under Indian law.

4. How long we keep it

We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Contact and enquiry messages are generally kept for up to two years. Grievance records are kept for as long as required by law. Server logs are typically kept for up to 180 days.

5. Your rights

Subject to the DPDP Act, you have the right to:

  • obtain a summary of the personal data we process about you and the processing activities;
  • request correction, completion, updating or erasure of your personal data;
  • withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, without affecting processing that took place before withdrawal;
  • nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity;
  • have your grievances addressed by us, and if you are not satisfied, to complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

6. Children

The Services are not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly process a child's personal data without verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian, and we do not track, behaviourally monitor or target advertising at children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use reasonable security safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and reputable hosting providers, to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If a personal data breach occurs, we will notify affected users and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be highlighted on the Site.
