Content Policy

Last updated: 2 October 2026

Jajeer Times publishes satire. Satire only works when readers can trust that it is satire, and when it punches at power, absurdity and everyday frustrations rather than at people who cannot answer back. This Content Policy sets out the standards our editors and contributors follow.

1. Everything is labelled as satire

  • Every page carries the Jajeer Times name and a satire notice. Every story ends with a reminder that it is fiction.
  • We do not publish content designed to be mistaken for real news, and we do not imitate the branding, layout or bylines of real news organisations.
  • Fabricated quotes are attributed to fictional characters. Where a real public figure appears, the context must make the satire obvious to a reasonable reader.

2. What we write about

Public life, institutions, policies, corporations, trends, technology, culture and the shared absurdities of daily life are fair game. Our targets are ideas, conduct and power.

3. What we do not publish

  • Content that promotes hatred, hostility or discrimination against people on the basis of religion, caste, ethnicity, region, language, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar characteristics.
  • Content that mocks or targets private individuals, including people who went viral without choosing public life.
  • Content that ridicules victims of tragedies, violence, disasters or crime.
  • Content that incites violence, threatens public order or glorifies terrorism or extremism.
  • Sexual content involving minors, and any content that sexualises real people without consent.
  • Content that could cause real harm if believed, such as false health claims, false emergency alerts, or false information about elections, voting procedures or public safety.
  • Content that infringes copyright or trade marks, or that impersonates a real organisation.
  • Content that is unlawful under Indian law, including content prohibited under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it.

4. Images and media

  • We use licensed stock photography, original illustrations and photographs we own. Captions and credits identify the source.
  • We do not create realistic manipulated images, video or audio of real people that could be mistaken for genuine footage.
  • Any image created or substantially altered using artificial intelligence tools is labelled as such in its caption.

5. Editorial review

Every piece is reviewed by our editorial board before publication for tone, legality and compliance with this Policy. Contributors' pieces are edited by our editors and published under our name or the contributor's byline.

6. Corrections and takedowns

Satire is not news, but we still get things wrong. If a story crosses a line set out in this Policy, contains a factual error about a real matter that it relies on, or is being widely mistaken for genuine news, we will review it promptly and may edit, add context to, or remove it. Requests can be made through our Grievance Redressal process.

7. Misuse of our content

Sharing a Jajeer Times story as if it were real news is a breach of our Terms of Use. If you see our content being circulated without context, please let us know at editor@jajeertimes.com.
